About
Hello and thanks for being interested enough in me and my blog to bother clicking on the About button. This shows great loyalty on your part or perhaps just an over zealous desire for the Truth. Regardless, thanks for being here.
A bit of history
My name is Daniel Nichols and Raidhyn has been my internet handle for quite sometime now. It was spawned somewhere between a bookwriting club, an epic fantasy story line, a stolen library book on Celtic linguistics, and my tiredness with an old AOL login name which I think consisted of initials and a lot of numbers. I grew an odd likeness for the name thanks to the character whose name it truly was and eventually became attached to the hip simply because no one on the internet had come up with that combinations of letters (just guess how many Raiden10231984 exist).
So eight years later here I am completely different from who I was then but no less awesome let me assure you. Although, let’s be honest, if I ever wrote about my character from back then he would definitely not be a silly fantasy novel. Maybe a modern mythology ala Gaiman or Lovecraft or an epic Steampunk themed sky-piratey tale…but i digress.
And currently…
I currently am serving in the U.S. Army as a Public Affairs NCO. I have been enlisted since Sept. 2004 and have gotten used to not having long hair anymore. I had a passion for writing before the Army but Uncle Sam was the one who put a camera in my hands and got me into photography.
I am married to a very lovely British woman named Bex who got me hooked on black tea and jaffe cakes.
We had a “hahaha surprise!” baby in our first year of marriage who we subsequently named Mikey because he’s still too childish for us to call Michael.
The blog itself!
Right now the blog is mutating between becoming my online portfolio and a dedicated place for me to write about Go (primarily) and the other things I’m interested in. Although it would be more expected for me to write about social media, I think that participating in social media for non-work related reasons will help me appreciate and understand the medium better in the work place.
Um…disclaimery thing
